Use Permit Inspections
$175.00 + County Fees (and Tank Pumping if Necessary/Required)
Use Permit Inspections are required inspections in many Front Range Colorado counties, and are becoming more and more common throughout the state. A use permit is required to ensure that the septic system is performing per the requirements of the property before any number of things occur including:
A sale or change of ownership of a property
A change in use of the property (i.e., a residence to a business)
Any addition of bedrooms
An addition of a separate "modular" home
Other situational and county specific cases
Our NAWT Certified Onsite Wastewater Treatment System inspectors are trained to provide thorough and accurate inspections. We will work with the county for you to ensure that the permit is issued in a timely manner, and that your transaction or project can continue without delay.
Ruby Septic provided Use Permit inspections in the following counties:
Adams (County Fee $85.00)
Arapahoe (County Fee $85.00)
Broomfield (County Fee $100.00)
Douglas (County Fee $60.00)
If you are in a county where a use permit is not required but you still would like a comprehensive septic inspection for peace of mind, as part of a home maintenance plan, or your mortgage company is requiring one, please feel free to call us even if you are not in one of the above listed counties.
Are septic system inspections necessary?
There are many counties where septic system inspections are not yet required, however this does not mean that an inspection should be overlooked when buying a home or property. A typical housing inspection does not include a comprehensive onsite wastewater treatment system inspection, which when conducted properly takes 1 - 2 hours, and a very specific set of knowledge to perform.
Septic systems are vital and expensive systems for any rural property and our inspections go well beyond the county requirements. When you hire Ruby Septic you will receive a comprehensive report with all components of the system being marked, photographed, and inspected for current or possible future issues. Additionally, the inspector will be available by phone after your inspection to answer any questions you have about the report and to make recommendations for any next steps if necessary.
Periodic septic inspections play a crucial role in preventing more costly repairs in the future by identifying potential issues early on. By including annual septic inspections as part of a regular home maintenance plan, homeowners can proactively address any emerging problems before they escalate into larger, more expensive issues.
What is a “septic system inspection”?
A septic system inspection involves a thorough evaluation of the onsite wastewater treatment system to ensure its proper functioning and longevity. When conducted by a professional service like Ruby Septic, the inspection takes approximately 1 to 2 hours and involves assessing all components of the system. This includes the septic tank, distribution box, soil treatment area, and any associated components. Each element is carefully inspected, marked, and photographed to provide an accurate representation of the system's condition. Our inspectors possess specialized knowledge, going beyond standard county requirements to deliver a comprehensive report outlining current and potential future issues.
