Various septic system inspection and repair tools leaning against a brick wall.

Ruby Septic is your neighborhood septic system handy man. We specialize in inspections, maintenance, and repairs. We are not septic tank pumpers, or installers, and focus completely on servicing existing systems. We can troubleshoot and remediate issues with onsite wastewater treatments systems, locate tanks and soil treatment areas, and coordinate and handle transfer of title permits, and operations and maintenance permits with the county.

High Water Alarms -

If your high water alarm is going off, give us a call. We will get to your site as fast as we can, in order to diagnose the issue, and provide you with a solution. High water alarms can be caused by failing pumps, broken floats, malfunctioning control panels, line clogs, and a whole host of other issues. When diagnosing pump issues, we focus on the cheapest and easiest options first, and do not default to replacing expensive pumps or control panels if it can be avoided.

Filter Cleaning -

Many septic tanks incorporate “effluent filters” or “effluent screens” to prevent solids from entering the soil treatment area (a.k.a. drain field or leach field). These filters require intermittent cleaning, which while not a particularly difficult job, is quite a dirty one. Let us use our hoses (and our noses) to do this unpleasant job for you.

Scum/Sludge Measurements -

A good rule of thumb is to get your septic system pumped out every 3 - 5 years. More specifically, you should get your system pumped when the solids account for more than 25% of the volume of the first compartment of the septic tank. We have specialized tools called “Sludge Judges” to measure the amount of solids in the tank. That way, you can know if your usage requires pumping more or less frequently.

Riser Installation:

Digging up the lids or your septic tank can be quite the task. Let us do the digging for you, and we'll install septic tank risers and access lids for you as well. That way, any time you need to get the tank pumped you can avoid the extra work or the extra expense of paying the service tech to dig it up for you. We install the Tuf-Tite brand of risers, which are durable, safe to install on existing tanks, and as an option can be fitted with secondary safety lids, to keep your kids, animals, and you safe.
